The journey of 50,000 miles begins with a blog

I am quitting.
The last day at both of my jobs will be August 4th.
I am leaving.
I’m getting in my car and taking a drive- a very, very long drive.
When I tell people this startling fact, a few questions quickly arise:

Where are you going?
That’s easy, I am going everywhere in America. I will personally visit every state in the union- from capital cities to rural homesteads. I will be visiting and ministering with friends and family in each state, marking off items on my wanderlist along the way.

Open Road

How long will you be gone?
I leave August 6th, 2014, which just so happens to be my 29th birthday. I will be on the road for an entire year until my 30th birthday, in August 2015.

The simplest answer is: “Why Not?”
So, how about you come with me?

More on the ‘Why’ and ‘How’ in the next couple of days, so stay tuned.

If you have a “Can’t Miss” place that I should add to my tour of America, let me know in the comments below!

  1. Ohhhh please come visit me during Valentines week you gift expert! I mean if you’re in the mood to make gifts by the 100s for love sick people while surrounded by the beauty of… Lubbock? Haha I can’t wait to see where you go!!!

  2. This is awesome Miriam!!! So excited to follow your journey!! I have traveled a lot and a couple of my ‘can’t miss’ places would be my own home town of Chattanooga, TN!! It’s a beauty! And if you have the time you must visit Sunset Rock on Lookout Mountain and watch the sunset over the Appalachian. Also the mountains of Virginia are absolutely wonderful!!

  3. 17 mile drive in Monterey CA and the Narrows hike in Zion National Park. They’re both freakin’ beautiful! Then you can drive down to LA and I’ll treat ya to chicken & waffles 🙂
